The 2019 ICPC Asia Topi Regional On-site Contest was a memorable success!

“Tucked away in a small corner of Pakistan, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, GIKI, is the host of this year’s International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) regional. It is for the first time that the province of KPK has been given the chance to host such a promising event. Around 66 teams for domestic and international universities have taken part in this race. Being such a large event of its caliber Kamran Bangash, IT Minister for KPK, and Dr. M. Ayub Alvi, the Director FAST-NUCES, were invited as the chief guests for this years ICPC. They were very much pleased with the quality of programmers that appeared for the competition. They also extended their warm wishes to Dr. Masroor Hussain, the Regional Contest Director ICPC and Engr. Iffat Maab, Associate Director ICPC, every member of ICPC, ACM GIKI and ACM Islamabad chapters for pulling off such a huge task.

This year team “Spartans”, from FAST-NUCES Karachi, took the stage by storm and became the regional finalists. They would go on to compete in the ‘World Finals’, which is to be staged in Moscow. Pakistan has been given the chance to represent this auspicious event for the second time, with Iran becoming the regional finalist last year in Lahore.”

Congratulations to all participants!
