MEET THE TEAMS OF 2020

Team name: Coffee Chicken

Institution: Nanjing University

Coach: Jun MA

1. How many teams have you (Coach) brought to the World Finals?

This is the 4th one.

2. Are there any obstacles your team has had to overcome?

We can not solve some simulation problems that require us to read problem statements extremely carefully. We are not familiar with the programming style of object-oriented that can solve this kind of problem more easily.

3. Is there a strategy or lesson your team has learned that increased your success?

During the training we discovered that it is not necessarily better to train as much as possible. The team should go out together and engage in some other activities, to improve the atmosphere and relationship within the team. We found that we should always believe in teammates’ intuitions (they always turn out to be right XP). It takes plenty of time to prove correctness of ideas during the contest.

4. How did you come up with your team name?

Because we bought a coffee machine, and in Chinese, “coffee machine” has the same pronunciation with “coffee chicken”.

5. What are your team members majoring in? How does that help them with programming?

We are all majoring in Computer Science, it helps us with our programing speed and the way of thinking.

6. What type of problem do you think is the hardest, and why?

Geometry problems are the hardest, because they are full of details and corner cases.

Congrats to this incredible team!!
