At 11:18 a.m., a large portion of the spectator gallery cheered., as ITMO’s name appeared on the jumbo scoreboard.
The team solved their fifth problem in a contest with only 11 problems in the set.
The defending champion has both a record 4 ICPC trophies and a home advantage, with strong support from the crowd.
National Taiwan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have also solved 5 problems. The University of Tokyo trails with 4 problems solved.
Some teams place a high priority on the leader board.
Half of Columbia University’s screen was set aside for the live scoreboard. Then two smaller windows for coding appeared on the right side of the screen.
The live scoreboard covered the entire screen at the station for Arab Academy of Science and Technology of Alexandria, Egypt. One person looked at the screen as his two teammates attempted to solve a problem on paper.
