They’re here! Tonight was team registration, and contestants from 6 continents got their documents in order, enjoyed a welcome dinner from IBM and fun times in the IBM Chill Zone with games and music.
We asked some of the teams who commonly place well about their practice strategies. St. Petersburg ITMO university said they have 5-hour practice contests as frequently as every other day. Reigning champions, St. Petersburg State University, said they practice 8-10 hours per week. Perennial Asian favorite the University of Tokyo said they don’t usually practice as a team, instead working as individuals.

The day was  filled with the fun of ICPC Quest, as well. Tomorrow is a resort day for us, and many people are looking forward to seeing some more of Marrakech.
