MEET THE TEAMS OF 2020
Team name: UCF Knights
Institution: University of Central Florida
Coach: Ali Orooji
1. Does your team do any activities together outside of ICPC preparation?
The entire programming team hangs out together in the Programming Team Lab a lot and we do other activities such as going out to eat, watching movies, or playing games. Spending so much time together really helps us to strengthen our team bond and better improve our synergy.
2 .How many teams have you (Coach) brought to the World Finals?
This is the 27th team.
3. How did you come up with your team name?
We have a “theme” for team names each year and the three students on each team decide on their team name following the theme. The “theme” for this year was “Fictional Planets”.
4. What talents do people on your team have besides programming?
The three team members this year are Computer Science major and that of course helps with algorithms and programming. We’ve had engineering, Math, and other majors on the team in the past and each major brings in some strength.
5. What do you do in a typical team practice session?
We have Varsity team members and Junior Varsity team members. Each group has its own lecture in a practice followed by 5-hour mock contest on two separate problem sets (some problems may be common to both sets). The day ends with team members and coaches discussing the problems.
Congratulations to team “UCF Knights”. You did it!
