MEET THE TEAMS OF 2020

Team name: InChaVoLa

Institution: Universidad de Buenos Aires – FCEN

Coach: Agustin Santiago Gutierrez

1. At what age(s) did you begin programming?

Our team members began programming from ages 11-16 years old.

2. Is there a contest problem your team is especially proud of solving? What insight helped your team create the solution?

At the Brazil ICPC Summer School 2020, the team solved a particularly tough problem involving doing binary search on top of the result of applying a dynamic connectivity algorithm.

3. What talents do people on your team have besides programming?

One of our team members loves reading and learning about economy and politics, another member often engages in philosophical debates about the relationship among physics and mathematics, and our last member is a great cook: in fact, his empanadas are the best in town!

4. What type of problem do you think is the hardest, and why?

Either ad-hoc problems, where previous theoretical knowledge is of little help, or problems having very small input constraints, as those very often involve a lot of implementation and error-prone optimizations.

5. What’s your team’s secret for all sharing one computer efficiently?

Making sure to vehemently take away from the computer, any contestant that starts to think instead of typing while at the computer.

Team “InChaVoLa” comes to the World Finals with years of experience!
