MEET THE TEAMS OF 2020

1. Is there a person or story your team admires or looks to for inspiration?

We admire four people that were very important for us to be here. They were very inspirational for us, since before them, our University didn’t have the tradition of competing on ICPC. We won’t name them because they are shy. We just call them the four fantastics.

2. Does your team do any activities together outside of ICPC preparation?

Besides teammates, we are very close friends. During the last years we built a group of participants and former participants. We share “asados” (typical argentinian barbecues) regularly, and drink and laugh together.

4. How did you (Coach) get involved as a coach for ICPC competitions? What year did you become involve as a coach?

Last year I was a co-coach of the Latin American Champion team. This is the first time as a coach in The World Finals.

10. How did you come up with your team name?

It was such a difficult decision. We had two options for the name being one our actual name and the other one “Los Lucianos Castros”.
The coach and co-coach in the past formed a team called “Gracias Demetrio” that competed in 2017 and 2018 WFs. Since they were very helpful in our training, we decided to call our team “GG Dem” which is a short version of “Gracias Gracias Demetrio” (Thank you thank you Demetrio, in Spanish).

13. What do you do in a typical team practice session?

Our team tries to imitate a typical contest environment. We just write code on one computer, we try not to get distracted during 5 hours on which we only work with a problem set of a past competition.
