Moscow State University took first place in this year’s World Finals of the ACM-ICPC, solving 9 of the 11 problems in this year’s set, the most of any team. Moscow State bested teams from the Russian city of St. Petersburg, who have claimed top honors for each of the past 6 years. 

Another team from Moscow, Moscow Institute to Physics and Technology, took second place in the competition. 

St. Petersburg University of Information Technology Mechanics and Optics, the 2017 champions, started in an early lead, solving the first problem of the contest in only 13 minutes. 

Host university Peking University took a gold medal in an exciting finish to this year’s contest.
