It’s a little unusual for five different problems to have been solved at this point in the competition, with more than four hours remaining.

We asked the judges, who said it’s actually a good thing, because they like for every team to succeed with at least one problem here at the World Finals. The variety in problems solved shows that the problem set is engaging teams who have varied strengths.

Don’t expect this pace to continue, though, Judge John Bonomo said, “We have plenty of very difficult problems in the set."
